Brockwell Hall Wedding Photography

Some places will always have a little piece of my heart, and Herne Hill is definitely one of them. I used to live in the area and spent so much time in Brockwell Park. It’s one of my favourite corners of London, with its enormous green spaces, beautiful views across the city and that wonderful South London character. So when Sian and Chris asked me to photograph their wedding at Brockwell Hall, I was pretty delighted to be heading back.

And what a wedding it was.

A wedding at Brockwell Hall, Herne Hill

Sitting right in the heart of Brockwell Park, Brockwell Hall is a rather special place to get married. There’s something lovely about being surrounded by all that greenery while still being very much in London. The historic house, the parkland and the beautiful natural light make it a brilliant setting for wedding photography.

I might be slightly biased, given my history with Herne Hill, but I really do love this part of London. It has so much personality, and Brockwell Park has always been somewhere that feels a little removed from the chaos of the city.

Sian and Chris made the most of this gorgeous setting, creating a wedding that felt personal, relaxed and entirely their own.

Your wedding, your rules

One of my favourite things about weddings is seeing couples do things their own way. Forget what you’re supposed to do. It’s your day, after all.

Sian is coeliac, so rather than having a separate gluten-free meal for her, the couple decided that the entire wedding would be catered gluten-free. And why not? Everyone could enjoy the same food without any fuss or anyone feeling like an afterthought.

The food was a proper highlight, with an incredible line-up of food trucks and suppliers, including Cocotte London, Jamon Jamon Paella and Utter Waffle. A brilliant selection of food and proof that catering for dietary requirements doesn’t have to mean compromising on anything.

The whole day was expertly brought together by The Wedding Arrangers, who helped Sian and Chris create a celebration that really reflected them.

Handmade rings and all the little details

Another detail I absolutely loved was Sian and Chris’s wedding rings. Rather than simply choosing them from a shop, they made their own with Anna Loucah.

There’s something rather wonderful about that. Rings made by hand, with all the tiny imperfections and individual touches that come with creating something yourselves. Personal, meaningful and completely unique.

The flowers by Wrapped Flowers were beautiful too, bringing colour and texture to the day, while Sian looked fantastic in her Sara Gaglia Couture dress.

And there were plenty of other thoughtful touches, from the confetti by Flutter Darlings to the jewellery and ear piercings by Holehearted London.

Food trucks, music and a proper party

As the celebrations continued, the atmosphere was exactly what you’d hope for at a London wedding. Good food, good people and absolutely no need to stick to tradition for the sake of it.

With music from Pop Syndicate, booked through Function Central, and a photo booth from You Beauty Photobooths, there was plenty to keep everyone entertained.

What I particularly loved about Sian and Chris’s wedding was that nothing felt like it had been included just because that’s what weddings are meant to have. Everything had a reason for being there, whether that was the handmade rings, the gluten-free food or simply choosing a place they loved to celebrate with their favourite people.

And for me, getting to photograph it all in one of my favourite South London locations made it even better.

Brockwell Hall wedding photography

If you’re planning a wedding at Brockwell Hall or anywhere around Herne Hill, Brixton or South London, I’d love to hear about it.

My approach to wedding photography is a mix of editorial, cinematic and beautifully unscripted. I’m always looking for interesting light, unexpected compositions and the moments that say something about who you are, rather than simply ticking off a list of traditional wedding photographs.

And if your plans involve Brockwell Park, you really won’t have to twist my arm.
