Helen and Jonny’s Warren House wedding in London was a massive surprise for all the guests – it was such fun!
I’ve been photographing weddings for over 5 years and I have never come across such a unique and special day as Helen and Jonny engagement turned wedding day! These two have been together for 12 years and have always wanted a low key intimate affair – but wanted to also include all their family and friends as well…
“Surprise” engagement party
So, here’s what they did! They decided to get married (Jonny never officially proposed until the morning of the wedding day), but they went ahead and arranged their “Surprise” engagement party and invited all their friends and family along to a local pub, The Bishop, in Kingston, Surrey. With 8 weeks to go, they went around planning how the day would work, booking Kingston Registry Office for the morning and asked only their parents to attend, and booked Warren House for an early afternoon tea for the family. However, Jonny had secretly invited both their families (including siblings and partners) along to the Registry Office and giving Helen an unexpected – but lovely – surprise! Did I mention it’s very complicated!
Shock reaction!
The afternoon turned out to be a beautiful late summer’s day wandering the grounds of Warren House, drinking champagne and playing croquet on the lawns. It was so simple and beautiful. And Helen and Jonny got to spend real quality time with their families – which would never normally happen a at wedding! During the afternoon, videographers the wonderful Andy and Laura from Eight Wood Studios, managed to edit a little film together that would be shown to all the guests at the Engagement Party before Helen and Jonny arrived. The reaction was wonderful: shock, tears, disbelief,…it was so lovely to see such honest and heartfelt reactions…
